We live in a world that has pictures and those pictures need to be taken by men with skill. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Mr. Look at me with my new DSLR and kit lens? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for the missed shots and curse your camera; you have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that your skills, while tragic, probably gives you a cheap thrill and that my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, can even make your kid look good! You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties you want me out there with my Canon 300 2.8 . . . you need me on that sideline. We use words like Bokeh, Aperture, monopod. We use then as the backbone of a life trying to capture that image and then pass on that image free of charge. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the stunning images I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "great shot", and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest that you pick up a 300 2.8 and stand on the sidelines. Either way, I don't give a damn what sideline pass you think you are entitled to.
